How to format a message for Discord
- Write or paste your text in the editor — Markdown, a document, an AI answer — or drop a
.mdfile on the page. - Click Copy for Discord. Lumidown rewrites it in Discord's flavour of Markdown, and tells you what it had to change.

What Discord can't show — and what Lumidown does instead
- Tables become aligned monospace blocks, so columns still line up.
- Headings below level 3 become bold lines.
- Pictures stored in your browser are left out (attach them to the message); web pictures become links.
- Formulas and diagrams become code.
- Footnotes move to the end of the message.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a table in Discord?
Discord has no tables. Write one in Markdown here and click Copy for Discord: it becomes a monospace block with aligned columns, which reads like a table.
How do I make text bigger in Discord?
Start a line with #, ## or ### and a space. Smaller headings don't exist in Discord; Lumidown turns them into bold text.
How do I mark a spoiler?
Wrap it in two vertical bars on each side: ||spoiler||. Lumidown leaves spoilers as you wrote them.
Why isn't my formatting showing in Discord?
Headings, lists and quotes only work at the start of a line, with a space after the symbol. Copy for Discord writes them that way for you.
Is my text uploaded?
No. It is converted in your browser and only goes to Discord when you paste it.
