Publisher
Lumidown is a personal, non-commercial project published by Vladimir Lorentz, a private individual. It is not run by a company.
Publication director: Vladimir Lorentz. Contact: vladimir.lorentz@gmail.com.
Hosting
The website is hosted by Scaleway SAS, 8 rue de la Ville-l’Évêque, 75008 Paris, France (RCS Paris 433 115 904), on servers in Paris.
The domain's DNS and the redirect from lumidown.com to www.lumidown.com are provided by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.
Your privacy in short
- No account, no advertising, no cookies, no analytics or tracking.
- The documents you open, write and convert are handled entirely in your browser. They are never uploaded: we never receive them.
- Data reaches someone else only if you send feedback, or if a document shows pictures from another website (see below).
Data stored on your device
To remember your work and to work offline, Lumidown keeps in your browser's storage:
- the document you are editing, its name and the pictures you add to it;
- your settings: light or dark theme, layout, presenter options, recent emoji, picture optimisation, whether to download a copy before replacing your document, and whether you have already answered the feedback prompt;
- for a few minutes, a document you send from one of the quick tools to the editor; it is deleted once the editor opens it;
- a copy of the site's own files, so that it works offline.
This data never leaves your device unless you download, copy or share it yourself. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Files, clipboard and pictures
- Files you open are read by your browser on your device. When you save, Lumidown writes only to the file or folder you chose.
- The clipboard is used only when you copy or paste.
- If a document shows a picture stored on another website, your browser loads it from that website, which sees your IP address, as with any web page that shows it. We do not control those websites.
AI features
- Summarize and Translate use the AI built into your browser (in Google Chrome), which runs on your computer: your document is not sent anywhere. The first time, the browser may download its AI model from its maker.
- AI agents in your browser can use Lumidown's converters as tools, but only if you use such an agent. What it does with your text is governed by its provider.
Feedback
If you send feedback, we receive: your message, rating and feedback type, your email address if you enter one, the page's address and title, the page you came from, basic browser and device information (browser version, screen and window size, language, whether the app is installed) and a few app settings (theme, layout). Never your document or its name.
Feedback is processed by Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., 45 Fremont Street, 8th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA), which complies with the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. IP addresses are not stored. Sending feedback is your choice (consent). We keep it only as long as needed to handle it, and delete it on request.
Technical logs
Like any website, our hosting providers may process IP addresses in technical logs to deliver pages and protect the service against abuse. We do not use them to identify or track visitors.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you (in practice, only feedback you sent), or object to its processing. Write to vladimir.lorentz@gmail.com.
You can also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
Intellectual property and liability
The Lumidown name, logo, texts and code are the property of Vladimir Lorentz. Lumidown is built with open-source libraries, each under its own licence. The documents you write and convert remain entirely yours.
Lumidown is provided free of charge, as is, without any guarantee. Because your documents are stored only in your browser, keep a copy of anything important, and check converted files before you rely on them.
