Jira markup to Markdown
Paste wiki markup into the editor — copied from an older Jira, a Confluence page source or an export — and it becomes Markdown: headings, lists, tables, {code} blocks, links and {info} panels (as quotes). Emoticons like (/) become ✅. Ctrl Shift V pastes it unchanged.
Frequently asked questions
Does Jira support Markdown?
Jira Cloud's editor does: type Markdown, or paste it and choose Markdown in the paste options. Jira Server and Data Center use wiki markup — use Copy as Jira markup.
How do I convert Jira wiki markup to Markdown?
Paste the wiki markup into the editor on this page: it is recognised and converted to Markdown automatically.
Does it work for Confluence?
Yes: Confluence uses the same wiki markup. In Confluence Cloud, you can also paste the rich text from Copy → Rich text.
Are tables and code blocks converted?
Yes — tables become ||header|| and |cell| rows, code blocks become {code:language}.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Both conversions run in your browser.
